Home is in your heart:
This is the mantra I'm trying to hold in my head at the moment. We're trying to get the bids in for just the painting as we can't really move back into our house until it's done. We got frustrated when we learned on Friday that the insurance adjuster had taken the day off and we'd have to wait until today, Tuesday, to get approval to get just the bids for the painting in AND we know the adjuster won't be in again tomorrow because of a funeral. Big sigh.
We also know it will be quite some time until the kitchen cupboards will be built and the new flooring for back entrance, stairs and basement installed.
Patience Wendy (:

On the really positive side is the fact that the cleaning crew is pretty much finished in the house AND my studio does not need painting or other work. So I can be back over there and get back to creating. I actually did some contact paper transfers on the weekend. One turned out quite beautifully. I also found some wood at the farm I will be able to use for painting on and an old box, bottomless, which I love. Greg will be so kind as to put a bottom on for me (:

At the top is one of Jessie Marion King's images with a whole lot of paint chips on it. I'll try to show you the colours we chose in next couple of days.

I must be away. I'll try to have more for you on Thursday, back to Saskatoon tomorrow.

Post two for today. Please view the first below this one. Click on the time for this post (4:00 p.m.) at the very bottom of it so the music from the two slide shows do not compete. And please feel free to leave an anonymous comment if you don't have blogger.

It's all about clouds. The majority of these were taken to the west as I waited for the harvest moon to rise on Wednesday evening, and then for curiosity to be sated as I watched the storm roll in over my home - off to the right.

I love the clouds, using my imagination of what they are, besides angels.

I would mention that if you want to see a larger version of the slideshow and also be able to see the others I've made you can click on "view all images".

Angels be with you,
Wendy XO

She looked to the setting sun: The theme this week for inspire me Thursday is watercolor. I think I tried that theme once before and just never got back to the watercolours. I often think I should try to do more sketching and painting but, when I get into my 200th year perhaps, maybe heaven? I started with too much paint, not enough water. It got too dark.

After it dried I misted it with a very light spray of tiny pink in water. That lightened it quite nicely.

I thought it was a pretty boring piece so decided to add the tree, and some words, and the angel. For those I used caran d'ache crayons and a silver marker. I got a bit carried away with the marker on the angel. Oh well. Notice the wind blowing gently through her hair. Hmm, I think the wind is blowing her skirt in the other direction. A spinny angel? Reminds me of someone I know.

Surprising sunset: We were at the farm for the weekend. They'd been predicting rain for Saturday night and Sunday. I was busy Saturday evening with preparing a couple of books for altering when I glanced out the window and KNEW I had to go outside with camera in hand. Cat helped me quickly prepare. There were a couple of things I needed to finish - cover for the egg carton lid full of glue for those pages, sponge soppy with glue to hastily apply. I needed to find my rubber boots because of nasty beasties in the tall dry grass I needed to walk through. And then ~

End of the day: At the end of the day

Light of the sun - November 17, 2006 - A day of many photos.

New light was supposed to be a photo with the moon. You can barely see it. I love the picture anyway. It's from our backyard. The streets were too icy to take much time to walk back to an open space.

I took many photos on way to Saskatoon and back. These are some of the images on way back from Saskatoon. I'll share more of the photos in upcoming days.

I'm chomping at the bit to get back to real art. This digital stuff seems more like pretend.

I spoke with my Dad. All went well. He was acting quite typically when I spoke with him. My brother told me the nurses in recovery wanted Dad to stay. He was handing out many compliments. Ah, my Dad - apparently being a "cheeky" old elephant.
