about procrastination and panic - These two words can really play havoc in my life lol - so tell me you don't have a clue what I'm talking about and you'll have me feeling VERY envious. There is a project I have to, REALLY want to, finish by Thursday evening. Consequently you will have to again accept my apologies for my lack of response to you and posting this next few days. I will be making every attempt next week to get back to you.
I'm posting a picture which shows 2 of my main projects. Our daughter takes humungous amounts of energy almost always because of being a teen and her issues. Believe me - she has made huge strides. The other is about the denim. I've been working with redesign of it. I'll try to share some pics of some of it in future.
Till next time,

TRYING *** HAPPY THOUGHTS and LAUGHTER
I ran out of time. I did not use all the elements. I am also not really pleased with the final result. I really liked the background. I was also very happy with the transfer. If I'd had more time I would have liked to do transfers of all the elements except maybe the birds. I would have used larger stamps for the words.
Regardless, I had a great time doing the journal page. I truly do find art to be healing.

a bit of this and a bit of that:
I'm trying to bring some organization back into my life as the final work is being done on our kitchen. For part of tomorrow yet we'll be using the bathroom sink and counter for small bits of food prep and dish washing. Hard going back to that for a couple of days but great knowing it is so close to being finished. Today I actually emptied some boxes again too. This is something I have not been able to bring myself to do for quite some time. My art supplies are in total chaos because of the unpacking and also because I've so frequently been packing up this and that to take along to the farm when we've been back and forth there doing help on weekends and for our holidays.
This image is a picture I scanned from a magazine. I've decided to do just a simple glue book with images and bits I love from older magazines - I've been rippin and tearin up those magazines - finding so many pictures I love. I got the idea from my friend Lia. I'm also sorting all my embroidery cotton to put in a special little cupboard.
One day I'll share some photos from the house. It will still be awhile as we need to be helping at farm yet and Greg continues to be extremely busy with his work otherwise too.
Angels be with you dear friends.

looking
watching
searching
for a path
the right path
For week 2 of crowabout's collage challenge I have altered quite radically some of the images. I used photoshop to do a smoke effect on lots of the images and then I took a chunk of the page of images and used a stained glass effect also. I glued most of the images to this scrapbook journal page and used just a bit of ink to balance the colour in the areas which had nothing else.
On the above photo I used watered down acrylic paint (inexpensive type) to balance the colours.
With many of the elements I made more than 1 copy. I especially liked the flower so chose to use different sizes and applied them after the balancing paint.
On this picture you can see that I chose to practice my transfers with the image of the eyes. I am still really learning. Many of these did not show up very well. I believe the image was too dark with the background also quite dark. I think they actually show up better on the photo than for real. lol
I really liked this partial face of the young lady. I had determined that I wanted to add on. I wanted to use text for the rest of the body and decided to use repetitive words from my verse for the collage. I was excited to remember the "lsleaves" font I had uploaded some time in the past and use it fo the paper for the rest of the extension.
The final photo shows that I also used transfers for the words I had composed for the page.
As I have a couple of major projects planned and started at the moment, besides trying to reorganize after the fire and an "on the go" summer, I probably won't be doing the crowabout challenge for a couple of weeks. I have to see how everything goes and how my energy levels balance. My etsy shop, I think it's still there lol is hugely in need of some attention also.

Bringing a smile to my heart:
The above are more photos I took last week when I was thinking of Chrysti's prompt. My first post about it is here.
Something else which caught my attention last week was the hummingbirds flying around in the garden pausing for occasional samplings from the flowers. I love those beautiful little creatures.
about joy:
Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.
Marcel Proust
We shall find peace. We shall hear angels.
We shall see the sky sparkling with diamonds.
Anton Pavlovich Chekhov

CHERISHED SURROUNDINGS:
Chrysti, a much loved artist whom I have encountered over the past couple of years, is running a contest asking participants to blog about something in their surroundings which may at first glance be quite ordinary but with further observation be unique, perhaps even beautiful. I have tried this week to take a few moments to do that even though the week has become very challenging for me.
These are just a couple of images which I have chosen to share. This is an old container which contains an vintage milk bottle. Inside that is
cutting from a scented geranium. I find the whole commotion to be very appealing - the reflections in the tin, the angle of the milk bottle, the shape of the cutting.
What about your surroundings appeals to you, brings you joy? Feel free to take a moment to look around you. Especially take some moments to look at Chrysti's blog. She has created numerous exciting art pieces and been published any number of times. I am so very inspired by her.
I'll try to share some more photos in the next couple of days.
Remember to check the post for the give away winners if you entered.

COLLAGE PLAY:
I have started in a new challenge group, collage play with crowabout, which my friend Nance is running. You are presented with collage images and can use in whatever way you want in a piece of art. I chose to use the images and many of their transfers, together with words, to speak of how I'm feeling these days. It was great to take time to do art though I was being crabby with my family about space to do it in LOL.
First step in one of my journal pages - actually an old scrapbook which has a bit of a moisture stain - fine for collage. Watered down paint was applied over papers.
Some written words were added.
The images and transfers were applied. I'm still learning and practicing with the transfers. I'll do a bit of a tutorial with my experience if I ever get to it.
Final collage:

announcing:
1)the winners of the first giveaway:
Sarascreations wins the first item of the book and bracelet
Suze wins the book and small container
Tammy's studio wins the "right to be me" postcard.
justthesmallstuff wins the small flat canvas
Karen of A scrapbook of Inspiration wins the photo card
I was not able to find links for Sara or Tammy so hopefully they get back to me to let me know where to send their prizes. Tammy, I need your address so hopefully you can contact me from my profile so I can get your address.
I've found Tammy's studio link. Great place to visit. It's here.
I have decided to share a couple of things from when I had a retreat in June. Since then I've not been able to do much creating. I did get a surprise when I went to the Saskatoon Ex. yesterday to see my art displayed there. I actually have the whole day tomorrow without any planned outings so hopefully I can share that with you then.
But back to some things from Manitou. This photograph shows some of the vintage pictures glued to one of the walls of the cabin which my family owns. This one is in particularly bad shape so I probably won't be able to do anything with it.
The following one is how I cropped a photo and worked with it on picasa.
After I played with it a bit on photoshop I got it looking like this. It's not terrific but this is not something I have a lot of knowledge about.
And finally a couple of canvases I was working on at Manitou. I kind of lost interest in them with all the other frustrations but maybe sometime I can get back to them:
Hopefully see you again soon.

ferris wheel:
some days feel
like I'm going round
and around
on a ferris wheel
it seems to stop
when I'm atop
I gaze about
and see
what is happening
at the bottom
it never stops
to let me off
so I might
do something
anything
it just
keeps going
round
and around

Thanks for all your comments towards the giveaway. Please accept my apologies. I will definitely do it early next week.
